THC Butter Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted butter
  • 1/4 ounce (7 grams) of ground cannabis (adjust based on potency preference)
  • Water (optional, for better temperature control)

Equipment:

  • A saucepan or double boiler
  • A fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
  • A container for storing the butter

Instructions:

  1. Decarboxylate the Cannabis: Preheat your oven to 240°F (115°C). Spread your ground cannabis evenly on a baking sheet. Place it in the oven for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to ensure it decarboxylates properly. This process activates the THC, making it ready for infusion.
  2. Prepare the Butter: In a saucepan, add your butter and a small amount of water (about 1/4 cup). The water helps to prevent the butter from burning. Melt the butter over low heat.
  3. Infuse the Butter with THC: Once the butter has melted, add the decarboxylated cannabis. Keep the heat low to avoid burning the butter and allow the THC to infuse for 2 to 3 hours. Stir occasionally. If you’re using a double boiler, it will help maintain a stable temperature.
  4. Strain the Mixture: After the infusion time, remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly. Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain out the cannabis plant material, leaving you with a smooth THC-infused butter.
  5. Cool and Store: Pour the strained THC butter into a container and place it in the fridge to solidify. You can now use your THC butter for cooking or baking. It will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or can be frozen for longer storage.
